Welcome Message from the IPF President
Dear Athletes, Coaches, and Officials,
Dear IPF Family,
On behalf of the International Powerlifting Federation, I am pleased to welcome you to the 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships in Malta.
It is the first time that the IPF family will have a World Championship on the beautiful Island of Malta.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) lead by Meet Director Mr. Mauro Gasan, and the President of Malta Powerlifting Association, Matthew Elphick, are doing a great job in preparing an outstanding and a most memorable event for everyone.
The LOC is providing highest standards in terms of accommodation, training and warm up equipment, as well as an excellent lifting platform, which shall give the athletes the very best conditions to perform at the very highest level!
The location of the championship hotel and venue are close to the beach. Overall, the championship will not only be a great experience for everyone, but will also serve as an excellent opportunity to spend time with both friends and family members.
As we will have also international media, and TV present – Eurosport LIVE, as well as our first class streaming – we will be able to deliver the best possible video and pictures to millions of homes around the globe. In additional to the sport highlights that shall take place over a total of 7 competition days, we will have our Annual General Assembly during the Championship. This will be a special AGM, as it will be organized as an electoral congress, with all positions on the IPF Executive Board standing for election.
In terms of the elections, we shall enter into a new era, as we will organize this AGM as a hybrid event, where we will provide the opportunity to all of our member federations around the world that cannot attend, the opportunity to participate. Nevertheless, we still encourage all IPF member federations to be present, in person, if possible. With such a hybrid AGM, the IPF will show, once more, full transparency to all our members.
Finally, I want to close by wishing all of the participants, as well as your delegations members a safe trip to Malta! I also want to wish the organizers great success in the direction of this event, and I look forward to both seeing and working with you at the 2023 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships.

The IPF Malta – Gozo & Comino Island Cruise
Take advantage of the IPF Malta Championship break, for the General Assembly, to view the Maltese Archipelago from a different perspective.
